Out of the 351 cricketers to be included in the 2016 VIVO IPL Player Auction in Bengaluru, 94 were sold. The sold players featured 66 Indians and 28 overseas cricketers.

In this the auction, Kings XI Punjab away with most amount  in their purse (INR 12.45 crores) while Mumbai Indians had the least (INR 1,30,50,000) amount remaining in their purse.

Shane Watson, was the most expensive player with the Royal Challengers Bangalore shelling out INR 9.5 crores for the Australian all-rounder.

Pawan Negi,  Delhi Daredevils by INR 8.5 crores, was the most expensive Indian buy, ahead of Yuvraj Singh (INR 7 crore to Sunrisers Hyderabad) and Mohit Sharma (INR 6.5 crores to Kings XI Punjab). South African all-rounder, Chris Morris, was another one of DD’s big buys, worth INR 7 crores.

Some of the other major buys from the pool of uncapped Indian players were Deepak Hooda (4.2 crores to SRH), Karun Nair (INR 4 crores to DD), Nathu Singh (INR 3.2 crores to MI), M Ashwin (INR 4.5 crore to Rising Pune Supergiants) and Rishabh Pant for (INR 1.9 crore to DD).
